Cloud in my hand

Group of drawings, ballpoint on paper, 27 x 35 cm, produced between 2010 and 2012.

The group of works Cloud in my hand features drawings of one of the main focal points of Goldberg’s artistic work, clouds (Cumulus Berlin, Cumulus 11.08, Cumulus 08.07). Represented are a number of sketches of hands holding cumulus clouds between their fingers. The fascination of the drawings lies in the reversal of the dimensions. The cloud is significantly smaller than the hand. Moreover, the fingers can grab the cloud so that it is deprived of its natural materiality, now appearing as a closed, rigid shape. Consequently, dimensions are shifted and realities negated. In addition there is the question of self-reference: the artist draws with his hand an image of his hand holding a cloud between its fingers.
